Travel another 45 miles south brings you to sophisticated Naples, a town that is manicured and hosts many notable personalities, Fifth Avenue shopping and world class restaurants. Stroll down 5th Avenue and 3rd Street and browse the fabulous shops and art galleries. The fishing pier is a gathering spot for the locals and there are over 72 golf courses in the area. The Naples docks house many yachts and boats and one can engage a captain and crew for a fabulous fishing trip. One should not miss a visit to the Naples zoo and Botanical Gardens. A very enjoyable time is spent there. Naples has white sand beaches, fantastic golfing, exciting shopping and at days end the most breathtaking sunsets. On the way south going to Marco Island from Naples a stop on the Isles of Capri, an island a total of just 600 acres. A sumptuous lunch or dinner is enjoyable while overlooking the water. A short drive on to Marco Island, which is located in Collier County, as is Naples, and known for its high quality of living. A population of 15,000 permanent residents and 35,000 during peak winter season. Marco Island sits on the northern point of the enchanting Ten Thousand Islands, and is the largest barrier island of the Ten Thousand Islands. Travel south you will come to the little community of Goodland, a small fishing village and still has the “Old Florida” look and feeling. The crabbers crab pots are stacked along the way and one can purchase succulent stone crab claws, when in season, and fresh fish at the little store. It is place for the “snowbird” fishermen who travel south in the winter to SW Florida. Travel south again and one drives through the Everglades called the “River of Grass” and down to Everglades City, again a community reminiscent of “Old Florida”, on the way stop and take an exciting and thrilling airboat ride and swoosh over the grass of the Everglades.
